We are excited to announce the return of Reflections at Opstad! This program, sponsored by the Opstad PTA, is part of the Washington State PTA and National PTA initiatives that provide students with a platform to showcase their creativity.
The National PTA founded Reflections in 1969 to help students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence; and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
Students create original works of art in response to a theme. The theme for 2024-25 is Accepting Imperfection." Themes are selected from student submissions.
Students may enter in one or more of the available arts categories. Finalists from local PTAs will move on to their council PTA, then finalists from councils will advance to the state round. Washington State PTA finalists who receive an “Outstanding Interpretation award will advance to the National PTA round.
Only original works of art are accepted. This year Opstad Elementary will be accepting entries in 4 of the categories:
Participation is organized by student age and grade levels. Student works are critiqued against others in the same grade division. This allows recognition and judging of artworks by appropriate developmental age and skill levels. The grade divisions are:
Entries are judged on creative ability and interpretation of the theme.
Entries will be submitted digitally. However, if an entry advances to the National level, a physical copy may be requested, so please keep your original work. Selected works may also be displayed at the school.
